Tucked away in the heart of the beautiful Slapton village we are hidden in the shadow of the 14th century tower, all that remains of the former ecclesiastical college that once stood.
It may take a little bit of effort to find us but be assured once you are here you wont want to leave. Whether it is spring, summer, autumn or winter, whether you are hungry, thirsty or need a bed for the night, the Tower Inn always has the best to offer. Roaring log fires, mulled wines, winter warming foods, or a summer Pimms in our beautiful walled garden to accompany some local food delights.
We are very much a family run business and are always here to offer a warm welcome to all, including children and dogs!
Food
We have a fabulous head chef here at the Tower, Dominique Prandi. Dom has spent 20 years as a chef and has even had the pleasure of working with Michelin star chef Jean Christophe Novelli.
He strives hard to source the best of local produce to use on our ever changing seasonal menus. Along with his team in the kitchen we hope to add new and unusual elements to our dishes as well as featuring the good old favourites.
There is always a wide selection of local meats, poultry and fresh fish on our menus as well as vegetarian delights. We also have a daily specials board which usually features some wonderful fresh fish caught in Start Bay that day.
Drink
With a number of real ales on offer year round plus a guest ale or two appearing every now and then, you are simply spoiled for choice. We like to support local small breweries as well as the bigger. We have regular ales from Kingbridge brewery 'Querqus', and a favourite of ours from up the coast a little, 'Otter brewery'. There are other local brewers such as 'south hams brewery', just around the corner from us here and we have regular beers from 'St Austell' based in Cornwall.
Local farm house cider is also a favourite for many. A farm down the road from us, 'Coltscombe Court', supply us with some traditional Devonshire Scrumpy a must to try.
This is all not to mention our extensive wine list we have here. We have taken great time and pleasure to chose some of the best wines to accompany our menus. Even supporting again our local vineyard, 'Sharpham', who produce a wonderful tipple worth a taste or two.
Accommodation
We have three double en-suite rooms here at the Tower Inn.
Spend a cosy night or two tucked away at the Tower Inn, the rooms are in a separate first floor wing of the building with its own entrance, giving you the freedom to come and go as you please. Each room has a shower en-suite, flat screen TVs and tea and coffee making facilities.

The Area
Only a short stroll from the Tower Inn and the village of Slapton lies Slapton Sands- 6km of beautiful beach, fronted by Start Bay and backed by Slapton Ley national nature reserve. The nature reserve is home to many species of animals including otters, eels, dormice and a huge number of birds and insects. Great for the nature lovers among you.
The coast line and country side is perfect for those who want to take advantage of the out doors. There are a great number of walks in the area, whether you want to take a leisurely stroll or a little more challenging walk, we will be happy to suggest some favourites. The choices are endless, enjoy all that the nature reserve has to offer or try any number of stretches along the coast path, Slapton Sands to Start Point light house, a particular favourite for many.
Although tucked away we are only 7 miles from either Kingsbridge or Dartmouth and 12 miles Totnes.
